TellySWIMMING COACH
Telly was a competitive swimmer growing up in Kenya and a recreational open water swimmer in her native Finland. In July 2013 she became the first Finnish woman to swim the English Channel, following a love affair with endurance swimming that grew from several short 3km wetsuit-compulsory swims, to the 14km Henley to Marlow ‘Bridge to Bridge’, the 10K Dart, and finally shedding the wetsuit for two English Channel relays and the length of Windermere before her solo Channel swim in 2013. More recently she has completed several sprint and standard distance triathlons in the UK. She is an ASA Level 2 qualified swimming teacher with a keen interest in the psychology behind endurance and open water swimming, particularly in cold water. She has completed the Swim Smooth Coaches’ Education Course and has worked for several seasons as an open water swimming guide for SwimTrek. Telly feels more comfortable in water than she does on land and wants to share her passion for swimming with whomever is hoping to find it – whether it is developing your confidence of being in water, or perfecting an efficient stroke for open water, distance, sprint, triathlon, or leisure swimming. Most importantly, what Telly will help you to develop is a swimming technique that will help you to enjoy the sport of swimming as part of an active lifestyle.
