The biggest reservation I had for trying a triathlon had always been swimming. I just about made it through shorter distance races with poor, inefficient technique. However, I was finding it hard to relax in the water and was exhausted when I finished. Freddie and I signed up to an Ironman knowing that the area we would need to work on most was swimming. I couldn't see how I would be able to swim 3.8km in open water and so we invested in lessons with Strictly Swimming. Jamie was a brilliant teacher. He analysed our strokes, breaking them down into the key areas we needed to focus on. He filmed our strokes, carefully explained what we could improve and began to build them back up to prepare for the race. We both went into the swim with confidence and were able to relax and enjoy the swim. This is set up well to complete the rest of the race. Swimming lessons were certainly the best investment I made during the Ironman preparations. |
